5 Tips for Working Remotely
Working from home has advantages and disadvantages. Some of the positive reasons to work from home (while managing a home-office life) would be the convenience of not travelling, and being able to work from the comfort of your home. But there are also disadvantages as it can be frustrating and challenging to manage a hectic work life – while maintaining a functional schedule. We have a list of 5 simple tips and techniques that will help increase productivity, balance your home and office life, and focus on what is important.
1. Make a to-do list
Organizing your tasks with a list can make everything much more manageable and make you feel grounded. Seeing a clear outline of your completed and uncompleted tasks will help you feel organized and stay mentally focused.
2. Start your workday at a specific time and end at a specific time
You can work past that time, but know that you are “working late”, give yourself credit for that, and understand it will take it’s toll.
3. Exercise throughout the week
Exercise promotes endorphins, which help combat the blues or that “sluggish” feeling. It increases mental sharpness and allows you to handle any stressors that come your way.
4. Try focus sprints
Focus sprints require you to focus on one task at a time with no distractions. Set a specific goal for your sprint, work on it for 90 minutes, and take a 20–30 minute break. You can perform several focus sprints in one day, just ensure you have one goal for each sprint.
5. Stay positive
Prioritizing your mental health and well being is vital during these challenging times. Many of us have little experience working from home but it sure does have it’s advantages. Most importantly, a positive attitude goes a long way. We are all in this together!
